Thomas orders probe into court 'adjournment'
published: Friday | November 17, 2006

In the wake of a dramatic incident between a Resident Magistrate and a police inspector at the Spanish Town Court in St. Catherine, Police Commissioner Lucius Thomas has ordered an immediate investigation into the matter.

Yesterday, The Gleaner reported that Police Inspector Patrick Murdock "adjourned" the sitting of the court on Tuesday after getting into a verbal clash with the female RM.

"The investigation has already commenced and I am now awaiting a report of what transpired in court, on my desk," Commissioner Thomas told The Gleaner yesterday.

The commissioner's instructions came 24 hours after Superintendent Harry Daley apologised to the court for the inspector's behaviour and gave the RM an assurance that the matter would be dealt with.
