Dreams and visions
published: Friday | November 17, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

It is my belief that our leaders in government and the private sector need to be more aggressive in implementing its dreams and visions. Four years ago, I suggested that government carry out their plan to build a new adult correctional centre. I suggested that they convert Spanish Town prison to a football stadium and entertainment centre. I proposed also that the Tower Street prison be turned into a museum and tourist attraction. I am confident that these changes would generate a lot of funds.

As a youth I went to the Palace and Gaiety cinemas on East Queen St. I would love to see these buildings converted to indoor basketball courts for the young people in the communities in which they are located. I am sure this will make a great opportunity for the private sector to encourage development in these communities.

One other suggestion I have for the Government is that the plans it has for the new Parliament building is that instead of its proposed location at Heroes Park. It could be better located adjacent to King's House. I truly hope I will see these dreams and visions become reality.

I am, etc.,

PAUL SOARES
