Flash flood watch remains
published: Wednesday | November 22, 2006

A flash flood watch remains in effect for low-lying and flood-prone areas, as well as northern and south-eastern parishes until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow, the Meteorological Service reports.

The bad weather is caused by a frontal system over the western Caribbean and Jamaica.

Rainy conditions are expected to continue for the next 24 to 36 hours.

Impassable to cars

Meanwhile, according to information from the National Works Agency, the Montpelier to Cambridge main road in St. James in the vicinity of the Bickersteth community, was impassable to cars and small trucks up to yesterday evening.

The alternative route for motorists travelling from Montego Bay towards Cambridge is through Mount Horeb on to Bickersteth, the works agency said.

Motorists travelling from the direction of Savanna-la-Mar to Cambridge should travel through Bethel Town, Lamb's River and St. Leonard's.
