Scotiabank outlines plans ahead of tourney
published: Saturday | November 25, 2006

AS PART of its promotion for the ICC Cricket World Cup to be staged in the Caribbean, Scotiabank, the official bank of the tournament, has disclosed several plans ahead of the greatest sporting event in the region.

Among them, the bank will stage a Kiddy Cricket Clinic during the World Cup. The skills training camp will be hosted throughout the island and will see members of the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) teaching youngsters the rudiments of the game.

Several persons will also benefit from the bank's promotional activities as it offers tickets to matches which include the grand finale in Barbados.

This, a credit card promotion, which runs between November 13 and February 8, offers four draws to give cricket fans chances of winning tickets to group stage, quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final, which will be all expenses paid.

Persons who apply for ScotiaPlan loans, which began on October 9, will also enter for the prize to attend the final in Barbados in April.

All these details, along with others, were outlined at a viewing party which was attended by cricket commentators, analysts, experts and former West Indies players at Cuddy'z Sports Bar and Restaurant on Wednesday night.

During the launch, the bank shows clips of former West Indies Courtney Walsh, Jimmy Adams, Maurice Foster, Michael Holdings, and Jeffrey Dujon talking about their greatest moments in West Indies cricket.

The bank will also prepare a special calendar which brings back to life some of the most celebrated West Indies cricketers, such as George Headley, Clive Lloyd and Sir Viv Richards.
