LIFESTYLE LIST

1. Add Christmas to your rooms with vases of red and white flowers and other Christmas-themed blooms like red and white carnations.

2. Make simple bows from Christmas print ribbon and pin them to your curtains. This will give your house a festive spirit and make a perfect Christmas decoration.

3. Remove your favourite pictures from their frames. Wrap the frames with Christmas wrap and replace the pictures.

4. Decorate the path up to your front door. It is a great way to welcome your guests.

5. Bring the children's rooms alive with the spirit of Christmas with a toy land theme. Teddy bears and dolls are the ideal choice for Christmas home decoration. You can also dress up the teddy bears or dolls in beautiful clothes and ribbons.

6. In order to enhance the mood of festivity, great colour combination for Christmas light and decoration is required. You may go for red, green and copper lights. All these colours symbolise festivity. If you are looking for subdued Christmas arrangements, then blue and green Christmas lights and decoration would be best.

7. With lights and decoration, you must take a few precautions. Using electrical tape, you must secure all the connections accordingly. This will prevent short circuits.

8. Candles all around an area or room make a wonderful adornment. If you want to create a Christmas centrepiece then you may go for candles. They would be perfect for the dining table.

9. Always unplug the cord before handling the pepper lights. If the cord is damaged (chewed on by a pet, for example), replace it; frayed wires are a fire hazard.

10. Christmas wreaths are perfect items to be put on the front door to welcome your guests.

11. Advance preparation will do wonders for you. You will save a lot of money. Christmas decoration requires immense planning and preparation. Thus, it's advisable to begin the preparation right away.

12. Trim door frames, window frames and the edges of mirrors with Christmas garland, (secure with tape). Tie bows around door knobs.

13. Put some colour into your bathroom. Display red and green glycerine soaps, bath gels and oils.

14. Wrap your plant pots in red or green foil wrap. You don't even have to remove the plants from their pots first.

15. Don't hang all your ornament on the tips of the branches. Place these and other decorations 'inside' your tree to add depth and interest.

16. Check lights for broken or cracked sockets, frayed or bare wires, or loose connections. Replace or repair any damaged light sets.

17. Use no more than three light sets on any one extension cord. Extension cords should be placed against the wall to avoid tripping hazards, but do not run cords under rugs.

18. Turn off all lights on trees and decorations when you go to bed or leave the house.

19. Avoid placing breakable tree ornaments or ones with small, detachable parts on lower branches where small children or pets can reach them.

20. For Christmas tree ornaments, hang larger or more dominant ornaments on the lower part of the tree for balance. Shiny finishes should be hung on the tree before matte or soft finishes, bright colours before muted colours and larger sizes before smaller sizes. Ornaments look better if they hang suspended rather than touching branches.
