After watching the island's top cricketers competing over the last four days in the first Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) Trial match at Chedwin Park, senior team coach Junior Bennett has two major concerns - the batsmen's short stay at the crease and fielding.

"The disappointment is some of the batsmen get starts and do not carry on," Bennett told The Gleaner at the completion of the match yesterday. We bowled well but we are not happy with the fielding - we definitely need to do some work in this area.

"It's not that bad but we put down some crucial catches at crucial points and that will cost us in the matches," he admitted. "It's something that we can work on though."

The coach, who recently took over the job as senior team coach after several years with the Under-19s, said they have already spent a lot of time on fielding but pointed out that "... we need to spend more time (on fielding)".

Meanwhile, Carlton Baugh, Lorenzo Ingram, Andre Dwyer, Dennis Bulli and Brenton Parchment were the standouts in the four-day trial match, which ended at Chedwin Park yesterday.

Final scores: Lambert's XI 209 and 96; Breese's XI 213 and 102-4. Baugh scored 60 and 15 not out and Parchment scored 34 and 43 for Gareth Breese's XI to beat Tamar Lambert's XI by six wickets.

Andre Dwyer first took 4-16 before Dennis Bulli, who also bowled left-arm spin, replied with 4-37 for Lambert's XI.

Ingram amassed 69 to emerge as the top scorer for the Lambert XI team.

Dwyer finished with 6-25 for Breese's XI, while Dwight Washington ended with match figures of 4-25 for Lambert's XI.
