Smoking jerk in the rain
published: Thursday | November 30, 2006

Nashauna Drummond, Staff Reporter

Herbert Rodney and Colin Walsh attend to their jerk at the Caribbean Broilers Pan Chicken championships.

Though the clouds grew dark overhead and eventually burst to unleash their fury, the finals of the Caribbean Broilers Pan Chicken Championships prevailed on Sunday at Knutsford Boulevard in New Kingston.

Smoke still curled from the jerk pans and the patrons who braved the weather wandered from stall to stall to sample the offerings of the Jamaican favourite - jerk chicken.

Despite the gloomy weather, it was all sunshine for this year's winner Dorrit Brown from St. Thomas with her Chicken in Peanut Butter and Coconut.

Orville Mason (not shown) of St. Elizabeth shows off his jerk chicken special at the Caribbean Broilers Pan Chicken championships.
