Snoop Dogg arrested again

LOS ANGELES (Reuters):

Another day, another run-in with the law for Snoop Dogg.

The 35-year-old rapper was arrested near Los Angeles on Tuesday on weapons and narcotics charges after taping a performance at 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno', his third bust in as many months.

A spokesman for the Burbank Police Department said authorities executed a search warrant as Snoop Dogg and a posse of friends and bodyguards were leaving the NBC studio. The roadside stop shut down traffic for hours, according to news reports.

The search turned up marijuana, cocaine, a firearm and a false compartment in a car, said spokesman Sgt. Kevin Grandalski. Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, was booked, and bail set at $60,000.

In October, police arrested Snoop Dogg at Burbank Airport after they found a gun and marijuana in his car. He was booked and released on $35,000 bail pending a hearing on December 12.

Previous charges

Earlier this month, he surrendered to California police to face charges of possessing a deadly weapon, a baton he tried to carry on an airplane at Orange County John Wayne Airport in September. He posted $150,000 bond and was released.

Snoop Dogg, who has a previous conviction for cocaine possession, made his recording debut in the early 1990s as a gangster-rap protégé of Dr Dre. His 1993 debut album, Doggystyle, entered the charts at number one.

He has since become one of the best-known acts in rap and moved toward the mainstream, playing a drug-dealer-turned-informant in the 2004 cop movie Starsky & Hutch.
