When the deluge came down...
published: Saturday | December 2, 2006

Mai'khi C'Nia

Now it came to pass that the heavens opened up as the master of all creation threw a reminder at Jamdowners that he ultimately calls the shots, regardless of the obsessed among them who consider themselves mighty and strong.

And as the waters made a mush around the foundations of the dwelling places of many a hapless lowlander, the levels rose within a sea town on the northern shore.

For a newly-constructed structure which spanned the watercourse was not sufficiently elevated, thus it became a facilitator of disaster directing the rush downtown.

Dearly beloved, the deluge submerged the town centre eight feet high and was terrible. Verily, it invaded the constabulary post and swamped the peace officers out of commission and though the lawmen made a valiant attempt at saving themselves and their records, it was all to no avail.

And then as if to rub salt in their open wound, the town folk went berserk on the place where thou can 'get it now'.

Yea, they having beheld the pretty dreadlocked lass on the 'telly' exhorting all in song and dance to come to Courts for dressers, beds and TVs, literally got theirs by relieving the hire-purchase giant of choice items in the middle of the downpour.

Now when the sun snuck a peek from behind the mass of dark cloud which blanketed the rock, the administration sent word to the mayor's parlour instructing him to prepare for an official visit by Dean the uncertain, and his entourage that would arrive by helicopter in the mid-morn.

But Bobby was the picture of discontent on the day and he was in no mood to be civil to the lot from central government, for he had personally publicly objected to the height of the bridge and raised concerns about its potential hazard whenever unrelenting rains came. But they paid Bobby no mind and so he would in turn disregard them in like fashion.

Dearly beloved ponder this: Dean visited and he sought Bobby not, then Portia the Passionate came and Bobby was omitted from her touring party and Bobby was livid for he felt he was dissed by them all - and in this he is correct.

Yea, despite the initial posturing of the mayor, protocol and simple courtesy supersede political chips on shoulders wherever they may be and this situation has nothing to do with 'ticians and their tiresome egos but everything to do with them doing their jobs for once with the people's interest being the ultimate consideration that influence their actions. Selah.
