Soca giant Byron Lee is reportedly recovering in a Florida hospital following surgery last week. Lee, 71, is being treated for cancer, and according to his daughter Julian Lee-Samuels, is expected to return to Jamaica in a few weeks.

"We are truly thankful for the support we are getting," Mrs. Lee-Samuels said. "We want to thank everyone for their prayers and support.

"He had cancer and had an operation to remove it. Daddy is in excellent spirits and anyone who knows him, knows that he is now champing at the bit to come out and play his music."
