New form of transportation
published: Tuesday | December 5, 2006

The Editor, Sir:

A new means of transportation has developed in western Jamaica provided by a group of motorcyclists taking passengers from the highway a short distance into their communities. They can carry up to three passengers but it is very dangerous and the police sometimes prosecute them.

I would like to see the dealers of these motorcycles import side-cars which would be more stable in the road and safer for the passenger. Another problem is the road licence and the insurance which may be too expensive. The people use these vehicles as they provide their only means of trasportation.

I am, etc.,
