The Editor, Sir:
I am a mid-fifties English guy who 35 years ago, on its initial release, studied the movie TheHarder They Come at college here in England for general studies and since went on to form one of the largest movie newspaper cutting collections in my area which includes rare worldwide comment on the film.
Ten years ago, out of respect for my now late parents' respect for their Jamaican friends about the time I was born, I became a volunteer worker for local organisations representative of the Jamaican High Commission here in England. Only since then have I really lived. Most rewardingly, I get to Jamaica not as often as I would like admittedly - and it has become my privilege to do volunteer work in Jamaica for everyone, but especially for the most under-privileged children from, and actually on, the Kingston streets most vividly depicted in Perry Henzell's tract on human life in Jamaica.
I offer copies of my studies of The Harder They Come to the Gleaner in Kingston, Jamaica and to everyone worldwide from Jamaica, my friendship. Perry's film got me a life and as a result turned a wonderful friendship between my family and Jamaicans into a wonderful love.
I am, etc.,
