Harbour View face Portmore in women's first-leg final
published: Wednesday | December 6, 2006

A NEW champion will be crowned in the Sherwin Williams Women's Premier League as Harbour View take on Portmore Strikers in the first-leg final at the Constant Spring Mini Stadium at 3:00 p.m.

In the 'A' League final at 1:00 p.m., Olympic Gardens tackle Meadheaven United. The return legs will be played on Saturday.

The finals of the Women's Premier League will see a host of Reggae Girlz in action and two teams vying for Barbican's crown.

Portmore Strikers, back-to-back champions in 2001 and 2002, have Jamaica's top striker in Venecia 'String Beans' Reid, goalkeeper Peatria Campbell and midfielder Rochelle Bryan.

Portmore Strikers have a 100 per cent win record in the final having been there two times and winning both times.

Tough game

The Cornell Clarke-coached team will, however, have its hands full in containing a Harbour View team boasting nine national players.

Harbour View and Portmore have met on three occasions this season with Harbour View winning twice, but Portmore defeated Harbour View in the mid-season final.

Vin Blaine-coached Harbour View have been to three finals without success and this could be their year.

Harbour View's national players include Kimmia Parker, Stacey-Ann Johnson, Peta-Gay Soman, Tanesia Vassel, Shakira Duncan, Shanique Mitchell, Nicola Bell, Lianne McHardy and goal keeper Paula Jackson.
