UNLIKE LAST season, the International Associations of Athletics Federation (IAAF) has reverted to its "win six, take it all" for the 2007 Golden League Series.
This means athletes are required to win at all six meetings in the series to acquire at least a share of athletics' biggest yearly payday of US$1 million.
Last season, athletes with five wins shared US$500,000, then another US$500,000 if they won the sixth. World 100 metre record holder Asafa Powell along with Americans Sanya Richards and Jeremy Wariner won all six races.
All three collected prize money of US$249,000 each.
At a meeting in Dakar, Senegal, yesterday, of the IAAF Golden League working group which consists of IAAF representatives, Golden League meet organisers and representatives from broadcasting and marketing partner IMG, it was agreed that successful claimants of the US$1 million-jackpot must win at all six meetings of the IAAF Golden League next season.
Should no athlete manage to attain six wins and claim the prize, then anyone with five victories will share half the original prize - US$500,000.
There will be 10 IAAF Golden League event disciplines designated to the Jackpot in 2007, five events for men and five for women, and they are:
MEN: 100m, 1500m, 110m hurdles, triple jump, javelin.
WOMEN: 100m, 400m, 100m hurdles, high jump, pole vault.
