The Editor, Sir:
Between now and the time the next election is held, if another word of complaint comes out of the mouth of Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller, I am going to scream. Can't anyone tell the lady that it is not a smart act to continue wallpapering the place with her complaints, as this will do more to raise questions than inspire confidence in her leadership and leave her exposed to public derision.
Come on, Madam Prime Minister, whenever you open your mouth your aim must be to let listeners come away wiser, not more polarised. You have a great throng behind you, you must be the stock exchange for the marketplace of ideas, good governance and quality leadership. Everyone is looking through their own narrow lens and is reading something into your every motion, or the lack of it.
Many before you have been pilloried for what they didn't deserve but they did not allow themselves to be eclipsed. If after Mrs. Simpson Miller's long sojourn in politics, mentored by the late Michael Manley, and if she has not learnt anything from former Prime Minister Patterson, then I fear that in today's realm of politics, she'll be deemed preposterous and all that elusive blend of looks, charm and charisma would amount to nothing.
The Prime Minister is known to be the cornerstone of the political muscle. It is time she unlock the closet of her protean political talent and illuminate the landscape with good leadership qualities, the ones she was taught by the greats who occupied her office before her, and stop complaining, like performing emotional triage in a war zone.
I am, etc.,
