Let us give love on Christmas Day. Do you feel the Christmas breeze? December is right here in your face and 2007 is looking over your shoulders.
I would love Supreme Ventures to do a survey. It would be interesting to know which of the holiday seasons punters prefer - Easter, Independence or Christmas. I believe most respondents will feel that Christmas is the best of times, but I have my doubts. There is a greater compulsion to spend, especially if you have young children. It is important to satisfy their fantasy, since all adults generally face 'pure', harsh and cold realities. Most people hate January as the worst month of the year.
The average lotto buyer does not necessarily increase his or her volume of purchases during this period. Over the past years, there is normally a high jackpot going into Christmas.
Winning the jackpot will even push spending higher and will indeed be the perfect Christmas gift. However, in early January, you are still faced with school fees, and if your eyes are red, you will be as broke as a bottle.
If you are a 'gallis', this is the best time to hibernate along with valentine. This is the time when all the women look 'phat' and nice. This is the time that you will get 'pure' 'please call me' on your phone. Suddenly, sex has a very high price, forcing men to hide, leaving lonely, miserable ladies.
One has to realise that couples are not getting married nowadays. It is only upper middle class and the upper class who can afford those luxuries. It is only the rich who can afford top hats at New Year's Eve balls unless you are a new jackpot winner.
Church and Christmas
I do not feel the Christmas breeze or feel the spirit. I plan to stay home in the day, drink some white rum and go to sleep. That is the only time the Christmas spirit will be in me.
I think the Church is at a lost to promote the true meaning of Christmas. Materialism and bling are all that they see and there is no spirituality in such indulgence. The decadence is at such a level that it is too late for the Church to step in. There is even the thought about their relevance to the scheme of things.
Christmas is now the feeding tree of the big man and big business. Once, the different holidays used to give a wide spread but with the level of disposable income falling with inflation, this is their time.
I do not feel the Christmas breeze. The hurricane season just came to an end, but St. Mary and Portland were ravaged by flood waters.
Now malaria has stopped Passa Passa. I just learned that in Africa, the doctors are studying the close relationship between malaria and HIV. There are over 40 cases between Kingston and Clarendon.
The mosquitoes have struck a big blow after malaria was eradicated here 50 years ago and we are indeed in the last days. Smiley and Michigan must be smiling. There is lot of stagnant water and garbage littered by nasty people without any civic pride. I hope that this does not impact on the cricket matches at Sabina or else dawg nyam some people supper.
I see where the high numbers have been creating some havoc and facilitating the growth of the jackpot. The numbers for last Saturday were 3, 8, 15, 32, 35, 36 and the bonus numbers of 26. The consecutive numbers were 35 and 36. The numbers this Wednesday were 2, 6, 13, 32, 33, 37 and the bonus ball of 23. The repeated number was 32 and the consecutive numbers were 32 and 33. I think that most people forget about numbers such as 35, 36 and 37.
