EDITORIAL - Crime's debilitating impact
Crime is proving to be Jamaica's many-headed hydra - the monster in Greek mythology from whose body would sprout two or more heads if one was lopped off.
Race against time
AIDS is a story often told by numbers - 40 million infected with HIV, nearly 4.5 million this year alone. Twelve million orphans in Africa; 8,000 deaths and 6,000 new infections every single day.
Appalling Chinese etiquette
Like the vast majority of Jamaicans who drive by the Chinese Embassy, I've never been inside. It's built like a fortress on Seymour Avenue in Seymour Lands. It covers the land area of the three grandest mansions in the Golden Triangle. (Ritch)
Mal area?
Last year, it killed more than a million people. In Latin America and the Caribbean there was around that number infected. Without treatment, it kills you faster than AIDS. (Taylor)
Giving credit where due
It is amazing how in Jamaica we tend to see every thing mainly from the spectacles of political affiliations. If a proposal comes from one side of the political fence, for the supporters of that side it is good, no matter how flawed. (Brown)
