Jamaica Gleaner Letters
published: Sunday | December 10, 2006

A mind enslaved
The Editor, Sir: Please allow me to make a rebuttal to a letter from a Mr. Newton-Bryant regarding Tony Blair's apology for the enslavement of Negroes by his ancestors.

'Bill' Clarke - the schoolyard bully

The Editor, Sir: These are the so-called leaders of our business community and to a lesser degree our nation. It is what I would term a schoolyard bully who does not get his way so he picks up his marbles and leaves the game.

On the fight against HIV/AIDS

The Editor, Sir: This is mainly in response to your editorial of December 1, 2006 under the heading "A failure of Leadership" in which you highlighted three areas of leadership failure in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

More Santas this Christmas

There are three kinds of people in this world. There are 'Santas', 'Elfs' and 'Kids'. Santas are the providers, people who provide service and leadership.

Political change essential

The Editor, Sir: Trinidadian Lloyd Best has stated that the post-colonial Caribbean form of governance has more in common with the super authoritarian Crown Colony model than with modern democratic forms and substance.

Student loan woe

The Editor, Sir: Is the Student Loan Bureau failing its borrowers? I am quite worried about the state of the information systems at the student loan bureau. It is either they are incompetent or the workers are just too lazy to do the job properly.
