DOMINICA: PM to undergo surgery in Cuba

ROSEAU, Dominica (CMC):

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit will this week undergo surgery in Cuba for a foot injury he sustained in a vehicular accident 15 years ago, he has confirmed.

In 1991, Skerrit, at the time a student of the Clifton Dupingy Community College, was in involved in a vehicular accident severely injuring his left forearm and breaking his right femur.

"A pin was inserted in the bone of the femur to strengthen and repair the damage that was done by the accident," Skerrit said, adding that he lived with the pin in his femur since 1991 with few complications until recent times.
