Hamilton Smoke House ham. - Contributed
Christmas just would not be the same without good old ham. Hamilton's Smoke House Limited, located at 11 Sandringham Avenue, St. Andrew, have gone the extra mile to produce not just ham in its original form but for non-pork eaters as well. Yvonne Hamilton and her daughter Trudi Hamilton, who are owners of the company, played Santa Claus as they presented Honey Spiral Ham and for those who are averse to the 'other white meat', smoked chicken ham. Both were enjoyed by all, so here is the verdict.
Ham - delicious and flavourful.
Chicken ham - could hardly tell that it wasn't really pork. It was a bit more chunky, however, but just as good.
Chicken ham - It was OK, I like the taste but I prefer the taste of the pork ham even though to me it (the pork) was a bit sweet. If I had to choose, it would be the pork. However, there is much fat on the pork.
Pork - the honey glaze is absolutely delightful. The meat is moist and tender, and the flavours seep right through to the bone.
Chicken - If someone had fed it to me blindly, I would have thought it was pork!
The chicken ham was very tasty, not salty and had a nice outer crust. A nice alternative for non-pork eaters like me.
The pork ham was good, a bit fresh though, I like to taste the salt. The honey glaze add a delicious bite to the ham. The chicken ham was OK, and a good substitute for persons who do not eat pork.
Both the pork and the chicken were good. But I enjoyed the pork more ... as is to be expected.
I had the chicken ham. And it tasted like chicken crossed with ham. It did have flavour but maybe it was a bit greasy.
Chicken was good though I couldn't tell if I was eating chicken or ham.
The pork was simply divine, so juicy and flavourful, this is what Christmas is all about.
Like the chicken, it has a ham flavour, it's very nice, very good for the season and the entire year.
Chicken was delicate, not too much on the salty side.
Pork ham is right on.
Pork ham is great.
Pork, it's good, I've made my order already.
The chicken ham was a bit sweet to me, I preferred the other one.
Original, that is, pork ham, was fine ( B+); the chicken ham did not quite make it. C -
The ham was good, something I would eat on Christmas day and thereafter.
I enjoyed both hams, but I favoured the honey spiral ham since it gives a sweet flavour.
I am not an Adventist, Muslim nor Rasta, nor am I an apologist for these groups, therefore I enjoy a healthy relationship with pork/ham/bacon sausage. I accept no substitute so Hamilton's can keep the 'chicken ham' I love the honey glaze ham and will definitely buy some of it this Christmas.
