Deacon's file incomplete, no trial date set
published: Saturday | December 16, 2006

The file in the case of former church deacon, 46-year-old Donovan Jones and the three male teenagers charged with human trafficking involving a 14-year-old girl has not been completed and therefore a trial date cannot be set.

The disclosure was made yesterday when the four accused appeared before Justice Martin Gayle (acting) in the Home Circuit Court.

Bail extended

The judge extended their bail for them to return to court on February 2 when the case will again be mentioned.

Attorney-at-law Paul Beswick, who is representing Jones, asked that the motor vehicle allegedly involved in the incident be returned to the owner Ruby Kelly.

Prosecutor Icolyn Reid said the motor vehicle was an exhibit in the case. The judge said Mr. Beswick could renew his application when the case was mentioned on February 2.

The allegations are that, in April and May, the four sexually molested a 14-year-old schoolgirl and videotaped the incidents.
