LETTER OF THE DAY - Slavery apology sparks important debate
The Editor, Sir: I have read with interest a number of letters and articles in response to British Prime Minister Tony Blair's apology for African slavery as practised in some of the former British colonies.

For a safer environment

The Editor, Sir: It is appalling, the seemingly callous manner in which what I consider to be a major criminal epidemic is being approached by the Government of this country.


My woman of the year

The Editor, Sir: At a juncture where leadership at almost every level of society is failing to lead... one young woman - a bus driver - is quietly and sternly standing up and showing that there can be discipline and good order.
