This week Flair celebrates many of Jamaica's hottest couples. Hot because they were seen out on the social circuit quite often. Hot, because many hold public office, others are great at throwing parties to which other hot couples are invited and yet others just look great together all the time and seem to love each other like how ackee love saltfish.

We pay tribute to the couples who lead our land starting with Governor-General Professor Kenneth Hall and his charming wife Mrs. Hall. We salute Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller and her husband Errald Miller. Flair also recognises Opposition Leader Bruce Golding and his lovely wife Lorna Golding. These couples have to maintain their personal and private relationships in the glare of flashing cameras and public scrutiny.

Others in the limelight include the always radiant United States Ambassador Brenda LaGrange Johnson and her dapper hubby Howard Johnson.

Merry Christmas and champagne wishes to Dr. Heather Little-White and her husband Peter Watson as well a Marcia Forbes and her husband Richard Forbes. They represent couples who stay together in the face of adversity, in tangible demonstration of the 'til death us do part' line of their marriage vows.

Couples in politics who sizzled in 2006 include James Robertson and his wife Charlene. Theirs is a love story that goes back several years. Finance Minister Omar Davies and his special Rose always capture some attention when out and about, son of St. Mary, Don Creary and his lovely wife Ayesha Creary are always in the mood for fun and Wykeham McNeill and the gorgeous Sheila McNeill are still in honeymoon mode.

Congratulations too, to John and Coleen Jackson who finally tied the knot after a long courtship as well as trade union big-wig Dwight Nelson and his bride Angela Tingling on their one-day-old marriage

He's not much in the spotlight but Dr. Errol Daley and his doctor wife Pam are inseparable and when it comes to party time, few can match Senator Trevor MacMillan and his gorgeous wife Peaches.

Stark Realities

But in the midst of love, heat and passion, some stark realities face Jamaican couples every day. So I dedicate this special edition of Flair to fellow Manchesterians Richard and Julie Lyn, who have come face to face with the Jamaica's worst scourge. It is never easy to see this happen to anyone. The Lyns worked side by side all their lives. I pray that their families will emerge stronger in the end.

SOME OF OUR FAVOURITE COUPLES

Gerard and Rosemarie Ivey, This couple has been married for the past seven years. They are the proud parents of four-year-old twin boys, Jamar and Jevon. Gerard is the financial controller of Franklyn D. Resorts and FDR Pebbles, while Rosemarie is the regional director of sales for MiPhone.

Aubyn and Tamara Hill, They light up any atmosphere with their megawatt smiles. The loving pair are seldom apart and certainly know how to dress to impress. - Winston Sill/Freelance Photographer

Arguably, the wedding of the year. The self-proclaimed King of the dancehall and the singer/DJ/fashionista tied the knot in one of those fairy tale nuptials and have had a little baby boy since then. Apart from going out, they take their Ashford and Simpson-esque style to the stage, performing side by side. - Winston Sill/Freelance Photographer

Fiona and Mario Machado, Not surprisingly, the owners of one of Kingston's hottest eateries, Mac's Chop House, are also one of Jamaica's hottest power couples. Mario and Fiona Machado are business partners, as well as best friends, and together have managed to maintain a balance of love and success. Fiona is often spotted manning the floor at their restaurant, with Mario 'round back' whipping up the sumptuous culinary creations Mac's is known for. Talk about teamwork! - Contributed

Nicky Feanny and Sharon McConnell-Feanny, She is a yoga guru and he is a master at all things 'Rum, Roast and Royals', and the relationship shared between Nicky and Sharon Feanny extends way past their two-year marriage. They are lifelong friends, love each other's company, and still find ways to tickle each other's funny bone. - Contributed

James Robertson clowns around with his lovely wife Charlene at his 40th birthday partyearlier in the year. - Contributed

Romae Gordon and Kingsley Cooper - The faces of Pulse for years. These fashion moguls have taken the company, and its models, to new heights; the likes of which local fashion has never seen. Their Villa Ronai parties, whether during Fashionweek or Christmas Eve are renowned for going literally 'til dawn'. - Contributed
