published: Monday | December 18, 2006

Though applied like regular makeup, it lasts much longer. - Ian Allen/Staff Photographer

This is the season for parties, and to party looking fabulous every second. In a temperate climate such as ours, you leave home looking like a million dollars but during the party you have to keep 'touching up' your look which is never restored to its former glory.

Waterproof cosmetics

Forget all the fuss, just do it once and be done with it, with waterproof make-up. It is smudge proof, resistant to water and perspiration; Your answer for a night of looking fabulous.

Waterproof makeup are cosmetics designed to not run, smear or come off even when wet. This is extremely helpful when you want your make-up to look as though it was just applied.

It looks, and is applied, just like regular make-up, but the only difference is, it keeps going and going as you party the night away.

Removal

However, fashion stylist John Gordon cautions that it's not for regular use, use only when necessary.

Never try to remove waterproof cosmetics with any form of face soap and water always use appropriate make-up remover. If removed improperly it will clog the pores.

Most waterproof cosmetics require special solvents for removal. These are usually quite harsh and can damage the skin making it vulnerable to sunburn, infections and other skin complications.
