Daylight murder in Westmoreland
published: Monday | December 18, 2006

Clive Essor, 46, was shot and killed by three gunmen in his community of Solas in Westmoreland, on Saturday.

Investigators in West-moreland are yet to find out the circumstances surrounding the daring daylight murder of Clive Essor, 46, of Solas in the parish.

Essor was reportedly sitting at a woodwork shop in his district at about 8:45 a.m., Saturday when a car drove up with three men on board. The men reportedly alighted from the vehicle and opened fire on Essor. He sustained several gunshot wounds to his face, neck and shoulders and reportedly died on the spot.

The police retrieved 15 - 9mm spent shells and several warheads from the scene.

Although family members are seriously hurt over the killing they say they are not surprised since Essor survived gunshot wounds on two previous occasions.

"I expected it but not today," says Marcia Coote a cousin of the homicide victim. "We did expect it but not so early. "We did not know it was going to be this morning he was going to get it."

His brother Hade Essor explained that the family is saddened by the incident, but they are supporting each other.
