Woman in janitor's death denied bail
published: Tuesday | December 19, 2006

Rasbert Turner, Gleaner Writer

Spanish Town, St. Catherine:

A woman accused of mur-dering her common-law husband and dumping his body in a pit latrine was denied bail in the Spanish Town Resident Magis-trate's Court yesterday.

Angella Wilson, the common-law-wife of Charles Patterson whose decomposing body was recovered from a pit latrine in Old Harbour Bay less than a month ago, was remanded when she reappeared in court on a murder charge.

Ghastly allegation

When the 28-year-old janitor appeared before Resident Magis-trate Lorna Errar-Gayle, her lawyer Peter Champagnie did not appear.

However, another attorney who expressed an interest in the case was told by the judge that due to the ghastly allegation and circum-stances surrounding the case, the question of bail would not be entertained at this time.

Wilson was subsequently remanded until January 16.

Her appearance in court arose out of the recovery of Patterson's decomposing body from a pit latrine on November 23.

She was subsequently arrested and charged.
