Cop faces murder, carnal abuse charges
published: Tuesday | December 19, 2006

Four weeks after he allegedly shot and killed his 35-year-old girlfriend before attempting to kill himself, Detective Sergeant Alderman Doran, who was discharged from hospital last Thursday, will now answer to charges of murder and carnal abuse when he appear in the Corporate Area Criminal Court today.

The 51-year-old detective who has over 25 years' experience in the Jamaica Constabulary Force, was arrested and charged yesterday by members of the Bureau of Special Investigation who interrogated him at the Horizon Remand Centre on Spanish Town Road in Kingston.

Explosions heard

On Tuesday, November 21, Det. Sgt. Doran accompanied his girlfriend, Rosemarie Gray and her four year-old son to the Danny Williams School for the Deaf in Papine, St. Andrew.

It is alleged that shortly after the little boy ran off to his class, Sgt. Doran and Ms. Gray got involved in a heated argument. Two explosions were heard and about four minutes later, a third echoed across the school compound. The body of Ms. Gray was later found with two bullet wounds, while Sgt. Doran was found with a bullet wound to the neck.

Prior to the shooting incident, Sgt. Doran was being investigated by the Centre For Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse in connection with an alleged case of carnal abuse.
