Danger on Mt Rosser
published: Wednesday | December 20, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WRITE again about the grave problems motorists encounter traversing Mount Rosser in St. Catherine.

I made a suggestion that the minister makes an effort to get the 18-wheeler transports to either use the south coast or travel during the hours of midnight to 5:00 a.m. This would greatly reduce the problem of these units having difficulty passing each other around those curves, holding up traffic by travelling in a convoy and causing other vehicles to take risks in trying to pass.

Sometimes we can overcome some of these problems with dialogue. I am sure the truckers will cooperate with these suggestions if a meeting is called to discuss the problem. There is also the movement of heavy duty construction equipment being moved during peak hours. I am sure there is a law on the books for permits to be issued that specifies the times when this can be done.

I am, etc.,
