Two killed in crash
published: Friday | December 22, 2006

Two persons are dead and two others have been seriously injured following a motor vehicle crash along the Bustamante Highway in Clarendon yesterday afternoon.

This pushes the number of road fatalities to at least 348 since the start of the year.

Yesterday's collision happened just after two o'clock, when a Toyota pickup crashed into an Industrial Gases Limited (IGL) tanker.

Died on the spot

The police say the driver of the pickup, 26-year-old Marlon Mullings, died on the spot, while his passenger died in hospital. He remains unidentified.

Constabulary Communication Network liaison officer for Clarendon, Constable Camay Watson, said the accident resulted in a pile-up of traffic along the highway. In fact, he said traffic was reduced to single lane in the vicinity of the accident.
