A team of senior investigators, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Les Green, will continue its search for two barrels at the Martins Hill dump, near Mile Gully in Manchester, which may contain the bodies of missing couple Richard and Julia Lyn, who were abducted from their home in Battersea, near Ingleside in the parish on December 9.
"We will be resuming the search early tomorrow (today)," ACP Green told The Gleaner last night.
Investigations led the police to believe that the barrels had been dumped there recently.
Armed with heavy-duty equipment and support from government agencies, the police were kept busy searching the dump for several hours. This was after they found a Toyota Corolla station wagon, which was one of two vehicles stolen from the Lyns' home on the night of their abduction.
Car found abandoned
Police said the car was found abandoned along the Spur Tree Hill main road in the parish. ACP Green said it has since been sent to the forensic laboratory to be processed.
In the meantime, the police have charged a 50-year-old woman and her son, who are among four persons being questioned in connection with the disappearance of the elderly couple. June White and her son Lennox Swaby were charged jointly with illegal possession of ammunition, which was found at their home a week ago.
"We will not disclose when they will be going to court," ACP Green said.
