Cleanliness is next to Godliness
published: Friday | December 22, 2006

The Editor, Sir:

Let's not fool ourselves! We may have built some new highways and buildings, but the appearance of our surroundings is quite repulsive. Take a look around our capital city and our parish towns, and we will get a true reflection of ourselves! Garbage and filthiness abound, and when brought into question, the feeble response is, "We have no money". Quite pathetic indeed!

The saying "Cleanliness is next to Godliness" is very relevant, as our surroundings give a reflection of what's inside. It's an indication of our spiritual condition. We only have to observe the pattern of behaviour in our society to realise that we have missed the mark. Unless we take stock of ourselves and treat cleanliness as our number one priority, anything else well be of little significance. Do this and before long, we will begin to see improvement in attitude, health and security.

Invest in a clean environment and we will see miraculous changes in our midst. This is not the time for complacency and excuses. The time for action is immediate. Put people in a clean place and observe the difference in behaviour! Is there any better investment?

I am, etc.,
