St. Elizabeth:
The management and staff of the St. Elizabeth Co-op Credit Union brought cheers to the children of the Manning Boys' Home at the institution's annual treat for the boys at their Southfield home last Saturday.
Everley Smith, public relations and marketing manager at the credit union, said the wards received clothing and shoes. She said the staff at the institution look forward to serving the boys every year.
"We have been staging this treat for the past eight years, and we want to continue for as long as possible," Ms. Smith said.
The Manning Boys' Home has 28 boys under its care. They are from broken homes and in some cases have been abandoned by their parents. The home, on a daily basis, provides a learning facility, meals, showers and a social environment for the boys.
Over a hundred years, the home, which cares for boys between nine and 18 years, focuses on the academics as well as skills training.
