Many times I wish this column could be longer. All of the actors and actresses that I interview have so many interesting, funny and quirky behind-the-scenes moments to tell me about, that I wish I could fit them all into my column. But, alas, I cannot. So, for my end-of-the-year wrap-up, I will attempt to fit the most interesting quotes from my previous interviews into two columns. Now I give you Part One of Daytime Dial's Miscellaneous Quotes:
Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki, The Young and the Restless): "It's so bizarre that Nikki wants to work, and for the competitor no less. She doesn't need to work and shouldn't work, because Victor can more than provide for her. She should be using her energies for charity work. She shouldn't be working. In matters of the heart, men and women are how we are - we know what our roles are, and we happily do them."
Jane Lynch (formerly of Dawson's Creek and Felicity): "If someone handed me a script where I got to sing, and it was funny, moving and smart, I'd do it in a second!"
Kamar de los Reyes (Antonio, One Life to Live): "I just try to have fun. OLTL is my home away from home. I love being a working actor in New York City."
Alexandra Chando (Maddie, As the World Turns): "With Trent Dawson, we have a great bond off camera - it is very brother/sisterlike. He's an amazing actor; he really raises the bar for me."
Michelle Stafford (Phyllis, The Young and the Restless): "Through the years, Phyllis has changed a lot. She's gone through a lot; she's gone through a metamorphosis. I don't get bored with her. If I get bored, then the audience gets bored."
Abigail Spencer (formerly Rebecca of All My Children): "Everyone on AMC was extremely supportive. On a soap, you learn how to work with other people. Judy Wilson, who cast me, has been an amazing person in my life."
Nicole Forester (Cassie, Guiding Light): "I was so proud of our actors at these past Emmys (where Kim Zimmer, Jordan Clarke, Tom Pelphrey and Gina Tognoni were just some of GL's winners). It was a sense of justice. They do amazing work, and it's great to see them rewarded."
Schae Harrison (ex-Darla, The Bold and the Beautiful): On Darla's death and Schae's departure from the show: "Everyone took it as a death in the family. They all displayed different emotions: anger, disappointment, denial."
James Stevenson (Jared, Passions): "(The club scene isn't) really for me. Pubs are more 'me'. I like to have conversations. Really talk and enjoy your drink."
Stayed tuned for next week, as I recap more favourite moments that didn't make it into the column.
