Lambert, Herbine shine at Portmore awards ceremony

Jamaica's vice-captain Tamar Lambert and Gary Herbine were the toast of Wednesday night's Portmore Metropolitan Cricket League awards ceremony held at Ken's Wildflower in Portmore.

Lambert of Hamilton Gardens captured the awards for most runs, best batting average and most runs in a match while Waterford's Herbine, who plays for Lucas in the Super Cup, copped the most wickets, best all rounder and Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the league awards.

Waterford took the Tony Becca Trophy for winning the League while runners-up Colours International walked away with the Dr. Paul Robertson Cup.

Waterford and Ken's Wildflower were the group winners.

Courtney Francis of Waterford was named MVP of the final.

In the Under-15 section, which was sponsored by Milo, Mario Downer and Ramone Senior took top honours.

Downer of Portsmouth took the award for best batting average and best all rounder while Senior of Waterford who was voted MVP of the final also got an award for scoring most runs.

Odeane Hartley of Portsmouth was voted the Player of the Year.

Waterford won the Christine Cummings Cup while Portsmouth were the runners-up.

Frmer Jamaica all-rounder Lyndel Wright was among three persons recognised for their contribution to cricket by Wilco Sports Enterprise. The others are Selbourne Mitchell and Leonard 'Sonny' Levy.

Former national player Renford Pinnock was voted the Most Outstanding Umpire while Reid's Pen took the award for the Most Disciplined Team.
