Barbadian Ifill listed for transfer
published: Sunday | December 24, 2006

SHEFFIELD (CMC):

Barbadian international Paul Ifill is one of eight players short-listed for a move from Sheffield United when the new transfer window opens in January.

The 27-year-old midfielder, who has been turning out for Barbados in the ongoing Digicel Caribbean Cup, has found life in the Premiership difficult and has lost form and favour at Bramall Lane.

Ifill, along with Steve Kabba, Geoff Horsfield, Chris Lucketti, Alan Wright, Neil Shipperley, Li Tie and David Unsworth will be allowed to leave permanently or on loan, Sheffield's boss Neil Warnock said recently.

"All these players are experienced campaigners and will no doubt be in demand. They have all been of assistance to the rise of Sheffield United," Warnock noted.

Ifill, born in England to Barbadian parents, has struggled ever since Sheffield's rise to the English top flight this season.

After an enterprising career for Championship Millwall for whom he made over 250 appearances, he signed for Sheffield United during the summer last year for £800, 000.

He has made just four appearances for the club and is yet to find the back of the nets. Ifill has been in fine form for Barbados, however, scoring several goals to help the team to the finals of the Caribbean Cup competition.
