BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC):
West Indies fast bowler Ian Bradshaw has been left out of the Barbados squad for the four-day regional competition next month but is still expected to feature during the season because of a recently implemented rotation programme.
Chairman of selectors, Joel Garner said he had spoken to Bradshaw and other affected players and explained the new system.
"We have spoken to the players and we have explained the situation," Garner said. "I have spoken to Ian and he will be expected to feature during the season, in the four-day competition as well as during the one-day competition.
"I think that we have to start looking at our cricket in terms of what is best for the cricket. I think that sometimes you have to bite the bullet.
"We are now in a position to say that our teams would be selected based on competition between the players as opposed to you just looking at some mediocre perfor-mances and you have to make a judgement call.
"We had to leave out a few people but you can only pick so many. The good thing about it is that those people who were not selected or those people who were left out are still in the mix-up and they know that they are still in the fringe and that they are not too far away."
