Jamaica's Under-17 Reggae Boyz will host regional powerhouses Mexico in a two-match friendly international series on February 14 and 16 next year, as they prepare for the CONCACAF final round which takes place in April.
The Boyz will be hoping to gain much needed practice as they look to be one of three teams that will be making the journey to the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup in the Korean Republic.
Hosts Jamaica have been placed in the five-team Group B alongside the United States, Canada, Costa Rica and regional rivals Trinidad & Tobago and the competition will run from April 21-29.
Qualifying from the group is expected to be a tough assignment as Trinidad & Tobago already have a 2-0 victory over Jamaica in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Youth Cup third-place play-offs. Central American group winners Costa Rica should prove to be a stern challenge and the Jamaicans have never beaten the United States at any level of international competition.
However, in addition to being at home, the young Reggae Boyz have already beaten defending champions Canada 3-0 in the last round.
The Mexicans, who won the CFU Youth Cup, will play in Group A alongside El Salvador, Haiti, Mexico and hosts Honduras.
Two teams will advance from that group which will make it five overall from the CONCACAF region.
Group A will begin on April 4 at the Tiburcio Carias Andino Stadium in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
The Jamaicans and the Mexicans last met in the CFU Youth Cup semi-final and on that occasion two early goals eventually saw them triumph 2-1 over the Reggae Boyz at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Bacolet, Trinidad and Tobago.
Newly signed technical director Velibor 'Bora' Milutinovic, as supervisor of the national programme, is expected to be on board for both the friendlies and final-round qualifiers.
