LETTER OF THE DAY - Faith without work means nothing
The Editor, Sir: Let me start by wishing you and all fellow Jamaicans all that's best for the coming year. Life is tough for us all and this is as a result of how high we set our goals, or hang our basket, but let us not lower them...

Call for a new politics

The Editor, Sir: For too long, we have had a politics of blame and fear, while Jamaica is eager for a politics of solutions and hope. It is time to find common ground by moving to higher ground.


Still confused about the past

The Editor, Sir: It is interesting to note that this debate about apologies for slavery continues, and it is evident that we are still confused about our past. The fundamental problem is that we tend to mix religion and history


Not friendship, merely justice

The Editor, Sir: This letter is inspired by Blake-Hannah's article on repa-rations titled 'Forgive slavery, forget about reparations'. Blake-Hannah's rationale for abandoning reparations is so pathetic! But, unfortunately, she speaks to the fears...


Expose those 'criminals'

The Editor, Sir: I am doing well, and being concerned about the violence in Jamaica, my New Year's resolution was to set up a legal defence fund for officers charged in carrying out their duties. It now seems I was about to support criminals.


Slippery slope

The Editor, Sir: In response to the editorial 'Weighing the utility of finger-prints', I have to agree that this idea is taking us down a slippery slope. We, as a people, cannot sacrifice our democracy for security because, as the saying goes...
