US Embassy closes Tuesday to mourn former president
published: Saturday | December 30, 2006

In observance of the National Day of Mourning for Gerald R. Ford, the 38th President of the United States, the U.S. Embassy in St. Andrew will be closed for normal services next Tuesday.

The Consular Section, Information Resource Centre, USAID and the Peace Corps offices will also be closed.

"The visa section of the U.S. Embassy will not conduct nonimmigrant or immigrant visa interviews on Tuesday, January 2," a release from the embassy said yesterday. "All non-immigrant visa applicants with interviews originally scheduled for Tuesday will need to reschedule for another day."

Reschedule online

Applicants can reschedule their appointments online at https://evisaforms.state.gov/default.asp?postcode=KNG&appcode=3. All immigrant visa interviews originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 2 will be contacted and rescheduled.

Meanwhile, American citizens who require emergency assistance should contact the embassy at 702-6000. Routine inquiries will not be assisted at that number.
