Disgusted with the bad roads
published: Saturday | December 30, 2006

The Editor, Sir:

I am writing with much disgust about the conditions of our major roads in my area. I live in Linstead and there are times that I must travel to Guy's hill. This road is rapidly deteriorating to its original condition and that is a foot track.

From Rose Hall in Linstead to Cocking Hill in Guy's Hill, this road is in urgent need of resurfacing.

I observed that a little work is taking place in areas where the road had broken away and this job is being done at a 'snail's pace'.

From Ewarton to Ocho Rios, this road has seen better days and the powers that be should be ashamed of themselves as public officers, when driving in these areas.

Cricket World Cup 2007

How can we be talking about Cricket World Cup 2007 in another 75 days and there is absolutely nothing happening for the roads between Ewarton in St. Catherine and Fern Gully in St. Ann. This major road is in a very sorry state of disrepair.

The Jericho to Orangefield road is waiting for the residents of that area to block the road again in support of road repairs. Not so long ago, they had blocked the road in protest for piped water, the pipes were subsequently laid and the people got a little water, but the work done in that area has left the people with very little of asphalted roadway to traverse on.

I am, etc.,
