Police National, despite drawing 2-2 with Duhaney Park, held on to pole position as the eighth round of the Jamaica National (JN)/Kingston and St. Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Super League was completed on Saturday.
Police moved to 17 points, extending their lead to three after second-place Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) succumbed 0-2 to Meadhaven.
Santos moved one place up to third on 13 points after comprehensively destroying Constant Spring 3-0.
Cavalier, which thrashed Maverley/Hugenden 5-0, jumped three places into fourth with 12 points, just ahead of Bull Bay (goal difference) which lost 0-1 to Mountain View.
Greenwich Town edged into fifth position on 11 points after playing to a 2-2 draw with cellar team Barbican FC, which remain rooted to the bottom on four points.
At Spring Complex, two goals by captain Fabian Nethersole propelled Santos to a convincing 3-0 win over Constant Spring.
Nethersole, who recently caught the eyes of new technical director, Bora Milutinovic, scored in the 28th and 83rd minutes to sandwich Shyan Evans' 64th minute strike.
Santos, the former champions, outplayed their host and the writing was on the wall from quite early and the result was never in doubt.
Nethersole, Jerome Wilson, Jamar Dawkins, Shyan Evans, Kirk Edward and Stephen Grant proved too much for the pathetic-looking home team.
Major League beckons
Constant Spring, relegated from the Wray and Nephew National Premier League (NPL) last season, were never in the hunt and if they continue to perform this way, Major League beckons.
Winning coach, Carlton 'Spanner' Dennis, said his team achieved what they came for and will be making a serious bid for the title this season.
Said Dennis: "We came for three points and we got three points. We were the better team today although we played in patches. But January we have to take it serious and move on. We have some players coming in the transfer window so we are going to make a run for it this year."
Meanwhile, Richard Purge, coach of Constant Spring, looked a worried man, and rightly so.
"It's a disappointed one (result) because at the start of the game we knew that Santos was on 10 points and we were on seven and we needed three points to be on par with them but indiscipline crept in again and we didn't take our chances.
"It was a game of chances as Santos took theirs and we couldn't get back into it. If we took our chances earlier on we would have been victorious," he added.
