Jamaica Labour Party (JLP honours 'creative soul'
published: Friday | January 5, 2007

"Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Bruce Golding and the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), express their deep sadness at the passing of widely-acclaimed, veteran actor, comedian and broadcaster, Charles Hyatt.

For almost 50 years 'Uncle Charlie', as he was fondly called, was a familiar and well-loved face in many overseas and local productions. His roles seemed to bring to life the unique and colourful existence of the Jamaican people and truly reflected his deep connection and love for his people.

His was a truly creative soul and one which he never failed to share. Over the years he has nurtured the talents of so many others who today bask in the spotlight on the world stage. Mr. Hyatt's phenomenal contribution to the cultural industry has positively influenced the performing arts and created a greater appreciation for them."

Our country has indeed lost one of its most talented sons, and even though he has 'left the stage' his legacy of love, laughter, professionalism and commitment will remain with us and transcend the void that currently exists.

The JLP would also like to extend condolences to the many family and friends of Mr. Hyatt.
