The long-awaited report on the Jamaica Public Service Company's (JPS) billing system has finally been received by the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR).
The report, which was ordered in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan in September 2004, after customers complained of a spike in their light bills, had previously suffered three delays.
Multiple snags
It was delayed twice because both the power company and auditing firm PricewaterhouseCoopers cited several concerns about confidentiality. The third delay was due to the unavailability of overseas experts who were called in to assist with the audit.
A release from the OUR yesterday said the JPS had been sent a copy of the $10 million audit on which they are expected to comment.
The OUR said they will be studying the document before commenting on it and will await the final report before releasing it to the public via its information centre.
