Hyatt

The life and work of Charles Hyatt, O.D will be recognised in a memorial service tomorrow at Our Lady of Grace Church in Palm Bay, Florida beginning at 1:00 p.m., the Jamaica Information Service disclosed yesterday.

Mr. Hyatt passed away on January 1 in Palm Bay, Florida, after a period of illness.

Mr. Hyatt who was a cultural ambassador, comedian, storyteller, actor, and performer has been remembered by many in the Florida community. Jamaica's Consul General Ricardo Allicock in a tribute to the comedian, said: "Jamaicans everywhere owe a depth of gratitude to Mr. Hyatt for his outstanding contribution and elevation of our cultural performing arts."

Sydney Roberts, Director of Jamaica Awareness Incorporated, a South Florida-based cultural organisation, remembers Mr. Hyatt as being kind and thoughtful while he worked with him on several productions in the South Florida community. Mr. Roberts referred to the cultural icon as the "ultimate professional who was always to help to make the best of his performances."

Mr. Hyatt, who was born in Kingston in February 1931, is survived by his wife and four daughters.
