
WilliamsAlpha High's Shermaine Williams was the outstanding performer at yesterday's WATA/CICLON/JC Development Meet at Jamaica College's Old Hope Road campus.
A contender for a medal at July's World Youth Championships, Williams raced to an impressive 13.88 seconds to win the girls' Class One 100m hurdles.
Manchester High's Judith Riley, running in the same heat as Williams, was second overall in 15.45 ahead of Edwin Allen's Naffene Briscoe, who won heat 2 in 15.61.
Williams also won the 100m in 12.13 seconds.
Rosemarie Carty, also of Alpha, took the Class Two 100m hurdles in 14.32, while Holmwood's pair of Sashawna Bennett (11.92) and Erskine Osheen (11.36) took the girls' Class Three 80m and Class Four 70m hurdles respectively.
Double winner
Slacia Slack of Holmwood was also a double winner. She threw 41.42m to win the girls' Class Two discus and leapt 5.81m for the long jump title.
Latoya Nation of Edwin Allen took the girls' Class One discus with a throw of 38.76m, while Manchester High's Natoya Goule (10:45.97) beat her teammate Neisha Morgan (10:55.85) in the 3000m open.
Sashenee Gayle of Holmwood won the girls' Class Two 100m in 11.90 and Samantha Smith of Jose Marti took the Class Four 100m in 12.24.
Theon O'Connor of Campion ran 1:55.76 in the boys' Class One 800m, while Kerion Stewart of KC took the boys' Class One 110m hurdles in 14.16
Kemar Marsden of Wolmer's won the boys' Class One 100m in 10.80 and Jermaine Brown of Bridgeport (11.01) took the Class Two event.
Riker Hylton of St. Jago (50.20), Dwayne Extol of Wolmer's (51.72), and Roderick Owens of St. Jago (54.48) took the boys 400m for Classes One, Two and Three, respectively.
