THE EDITOR, Sir:

When will there be an end to the destruction of our beautiful countrysides? I was in Jamaica in December of 2005 - in Watt Town, St. Ann to be exact. What a horrible site! Most of the residents have left, there are gaping holes all around - it is just sheer destruction of a beautiful area. I support the Maroons in their efforts to keep big industry from destroying an historical area - I am against destruction of any more of our lands. The pity is that there is no effort to reconstruct any of these mining sites. They are dug up and left. This should not be the fate of Jamaica - enough is enough!
