Rema residents asked to facilitate malaria teams
published: Wednesday | January 10, 2007

Health Minister Horace Dalley yesterday appealed to residents in the community of Wilton Gardens (Rema) to facilitate and cooperate with the health teams as they seek to carry out fever surveillance and mosquito control work in the community.

Mr. Dalley said the appeal was necessary as the teams continue to face challenges in accessing the community.

Climb to 209 cases

The Health Minister said, as part of his ministry's efforts to rid the society of malaria, which has climbed to 209 cases, the areas of Columbus Road in the north, to Eleventh Street in the south, will be visited this week along with Harris Street to the west, to East Road in the east.

Fogging activities were scheduled for Wilton Gardens last night and house-to-house visits will start today through to the weekend.
