Fire truck in fatal collision
published: Thursday | January 11, 2007

SPANISH TOWN, St. Catherine

One man was killed yesterday and several persons admitted to hospital, including seven firefighters, following a five-vehicle collision in the Braeton-Hellshire area of Portmore, St. Catherine.

The dead man is Riley Armstrong, a 44-year-old labourer of Four West in Greater Portmore. Reports are that about 4:40 p.m. a fire truck was rushing to the scene of a fire in Braeton when, on reaching an intersection with sirens blaring, a motorist tried to beat the traffic light and was hit by a truck, causing the car to hit three other vehicles, one of which crashed under the truck.
