Holmwood score big win

Led by half centuries from Marlon Pinnock, Kennar Lewis and Sean Bennett, and a five-wicket haul by Jamaica Under-19 player Andre Creary, defending champions Holmwood got their 2007 Grace Headley Cup campaign off on a winning note.

Pinnock scored 95, Lewis 64 and Bennett 54 as Holmwood made an impressive 256-3 declared. Creary then bagged 7-22 to help dismiss Albert Town for 103, giving their team a 153-run win at home.

Jermaine Blackwood supported Creary with 2-26.

In Santa Cruz, many-time champions St. Elizabeth Technical crushed Newell by 10 wickets.

Jason Dawes and Linton Buchanan shared eight wickets to help dismiss Newell, who were bowled out for 47.

At their turn at bat, STETHS raced to 50 without loss.

At Vere, Kemps Hill defeated the hosts by five wickets.

Vere batted first and made 145 with Owane Holness getting 41 against Sherwayne Williams (4-3) and Marcel Parchment (4-59).

In reply, Parchment hit 81 not out and Travis Mitchell 31 not out. Both shared in an unbroken 69-run sixth wicket partnership.

At Manchester, Jamie Mer-chant scored an even century, but his Manchester team was held to a draw by Bellefield.

Manchester scored 190-4 declared. Courtney Allen supported Merchant with 56 not out against Charles Knight 2-46.

When rain stopped play during the post-tea session, Bellefield were struggling on 24-6.

Obrian Salmon had taken 4-11 and Roxroy Bailey 2-8.
