Gym instructor shot near Spartan
published: Friday | January 12, 2007

A gym instructor was shot and injured outside Spartan Gym on Brompton Road in St. Andrew on Wednesday night.

Witnesses said 35-year-old Mark McDonald had been involved in a dispute with a fellow instructor earlier in the day over ownership of a piece of sponge, used to help lift weights in place of gloves. The argument then took on a more personal nature.

Police confirmed that the incident occurred at 9:55 p.m. but that they had not yet confirmed the identity of the gunman.

Mr. McDonald was shot by a pillion rider on a motorbike who first dismounted before rejoining the rider and speeding off.
